FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all kids. By placing a teal pumpkin in front of your house and providing non-food related goodies to your trick-or-treaters, you can spread awareness for food allergies, while also showing that your house is ready-to-go with allergy-free Halloween treats. If you are giving out non-food treats paint a pumpkin teal and place it outside your door to signal that your house is safe for. It is a simple act that can mean so much. FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project pushes for allergy-safe and inclusive treats to give out on October 31st. There are also free posters available on the FARE website that you can display to let trick-or-treaters know your home or business offers safe “treat” options. It is best to offer these in separate bowls and FARE has “Pick Candy or Prize” signs available to print online. Whether you plan to hand out treats, or participate in a small celebration, candy can still be a part of it, just make sure you offer “safe” choices for those with food allergies and other medical conditions where restricted diets are necessary.
